Year 8 Circle circumference and area practice

Choose from 26 available worksheets below. Try an answer first, use an optional hint if needed, then compare your reasoning with the worked solution.

Understand the topic

Circumference measures the distance around a circle. Area measures the surface inside it. The diameter is twice the radius: d = 2r.

Worked example

For a circle with radius 3 cm, circumference C = 2πr = 6π cm and area A = πr² = 9π cm². Leave answers in terms of π unless a decimal approximation is requested.

Common mistake to avoid

Do not substitute the diameter for r. Circumference uses length units; area uses square units.
